The 10th meeting of China international working group of ASME BPVⅡ(Material) was held in Shanghai on Sep. 21. Vice president and chief engineer of CSEI Shou Binan hosted the meeting, Mr. Jeffrey Henry, president of ASME BPVⅡ, Mrs. Annemarie Appleton, the subcommittee chairman of the steel material (Volume Ⅱ) and Mr. Richard Barnes, the former chairman of the Volume III attended the meeting. 33 representatives from 23 companies joined the meeting.

In the meeting, the member companies reported the development of integrating China’s boiler and pressure vessel materials (including steel plates, steel tubes and steel forgings) into ASME boiler and pressure vessel codes, coordinated and confirmed the next work arrangement. The questions about the explanation of ASME standards provided by the steel plate manufacturers also be discussed and answered. President of ASME BPVⅡ Mr. Jeffrey Henry made a report on the latest progress of the chemical composition adjustment of materials in Grade 91, the impact caused by Mn/C comparison material cracks and so on. He thought the results of the working group are positive and he will provide full support and cooperation for their work.

This meeting strengthened the communication and contact between the engineer enterprise, the steel miller, the pressure equipment designer and manufacturer, the standard formulation and revision agency, the safety supervision institute, CSEI and ASME standard committee, which further promoted the progress of integrating China’s material designations into ASME codes.

After the meeting, vice president and chief engineer of CSEI Shou Binan, president of ASME BPVⅡ Mr. Jeffrey Henry, director general of SESA of AQSIQ Li Jun and parts of the members of China international working group visited Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, improved the technical communication of technical experts at home and aboard and international working group of ASME BPVⅡ with Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.
