Kick-off meeting for the first batch of AQSIQ’s key laboratories and engineering research centers was held in NIM’s Changping campus on May. 10. Led by Liu Sanjiang, vice president of CSEI, related staff from R & D Project Management Department, Pressure Pipeline Division, Structural Health Monitoring & Diagnosis & Management Division and Non-destructive Testing Technology Center attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Wu Jinsheng, director of Science & Technology Department, AQSIQ.

Mr. Sun Dawei, deputy director of AQSIQ, made an important speech at the meeting, put forward requirement and expectation for these 6 key laboratories and 6 engineering research centers. On behalf of the supporting institution, Mr. Fangxiang, president of NIM introduced the construction, management and operation situation of key laboratories and engineering research centers. As one of the supporting institutions of the first batch of key laboratories and engineering research centers, CSEI gained approval of 2 key laboratories (special equipment safety and energy saving, non-destructive testing and evaluation) and 2 engineering research centers (oil and gas pipeline, structural health monitoring ).

AQSIQ’s key laboratories and engineering research centers are important base for conducting high-level fundamental research and basic research for application, gathering and training excellent scientists, developing academic exchanges, as well as for scientific research and development, technical innovation and industrialization. The launch of key laboratories and engineering research centers is a new way to explore the combination of inspection technology and economy, is beneficial to transform scientific and technological results to productivity. The kick-off meeting heralded the breakthrough of AQSIQ’s key laboratories and engineering research centers, had great significance to strengthen basic and applied research, promote transformation, strengthen construction of scientific and technological innovation platform and talents team, and promote development of quality supervision and inspection.
