On Nov. 8, the project of Ultrasonic Testing Standard Test Block National Standard Sample Development led by CSEI was officially launched. The kick-off meeting and developing scheme discussion meeting were held in Beijing. Mr. Xu Dajun, secretary-general of Secretariat, National Standard Sample Technical Committee, Mr. Lin Shuqing, CSEI’s president, Mr. Shou Binan, CSEI’s vise president & general engineer attended the meeting. Representatives from the participant units Zhejiang URT Inspection Science & Technology Ltd. and Shandong Ruixiang Mould Ltd. also attended the meeting. The experts from Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, Central Iron & Steel Research Institute, China Association of Special Equipment Inspection, Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, Shanghai Research Institute of Materials, Northern Regional Office of Nuclear & Radiation Safety Inspection Ministry of Environment Protection of China, Electric Power Engineering Quality Supervision Station, SINOPEC Engineering Quality Supervision Station and China First Heavy Industries (CFHI) are invited to form a project specialist advisory group. The meeting was hosted by Mr. Zheng Hui, director of nondestructive testing technology center of CSEI.

The project group made a detailed report on the project set up background, the preparatory work at earlier stage and the standard sample development scheme. After listening to the report, the participating leaders and experts fully affirmed the meaning of the project and offered the specific guidance and suggestions for the difficulties that may occur in the process of standard sample development. Three standard sample development units including CSEI modified and improved the next step working plan according to the experts’ opinions.

The implementation of the project of Ultrasonic Testing Standard Test Block National Standard Sample Development lays olid foundation for fulfilling the capability calibration of nondestructive testing system and the quality grading of pressure equipments, and will benefit the industry development and the international status promotion of China nondestructive testing.
