The 7th Sino-American Energy Efficiency Forum, co-hosted by China National Development and Reform Commission and Department of Energy of America, was held in Beijing on Oct.13th. Deputy Director of China National Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Zhang Yong and Assistant Secretary from the Department of Energy of America, Mr. David Friedman were present at the forum and gave opening addresses. Deputy Chief Engineer of CSEI, Mr. Guan Jian was invited to the forum and senior engineer Mr. Qi Guoli from CSEI Energy-Saving Technology Center gave a speech on the Standard Sub-Forum with the title of Comparative Study on Chinese Boilers Performance Test Standard and ASME PTC4.

As a result of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue and Sino-us Strategic Cooperation Framework on Climate Change, Sino-American Energy Efficiency Forum holds yearly and by turns in China and USA. This forum themed on Sino-American Energy Efficiency: New beginning, New opportunities and have six parallel sub-forums including architecture, industry, standard, energy-saving service, electric demand side and energy management.

The representative of CSEI summarized the similarities and differences between Chinese standard and American standard from the aspects of standard development history, standard system, test principle and key articles. Meanwhile the comparative study report, co-signed by China expert group representative Mr. Guan Jian and ASME PTC representative Mr. Crane, was also exhibited.

Representative of ASME PTC4 Commission expressed appreciation to the comparative work led by CSEI and affirmed the significance of research results for completing ASME PTC4. The representative also said the achievement will also be put into the next version of PTC4. Meanwhile, representative of ASME PTC4 Commission showed great interest in the scientific research results on “Test Methods of Condensing Boiler Thermal Performance” and expect cooperation and exchange for the preparatory work to include it involved in ASME PTC4.

In next step, CSEI will continue to strengthen the cooperation with US in the aspects of boiler energy efficiency standard coordination, formulation and Revision and diagnosis and evaluation of special equipment energy efficiency to propel energy conservation and emission reduction in China.
