American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section II (Material section) China International Working Group (CIWG BPV II) 9th Meeting was held in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province on April 16 to 17, 2016, which was hosted by CSEI and organized by Xi’an Thermal Power Research Institute Co., Ltd, 43 representatives from 32 units attended. The meeting was hosted by Shou Binan, Vice President & Chief Engineer of CSEI, Mr. Zhang Qiang, ASME China Chief Representative also joined the meeting.

The participating experts gave reports on data analysis of Grade 91 material and research on material choosing of 650~700℃ ultra-super critical boiler. This meeting’s key point is discussing the specific work progress of bringing China boiler and pressure vessel material (including steel plate, steel tube, and steel forging) into ASME boiler and pressure code. All member units reported each task team’s progress, coordinated and confirmed the future work arrangement. The meeting also voted on the acceptance of new member. Mr. Shou Binan emphasized that the mutual recognition of Chinese and foreign standards is very important in the development of Chinese standard internationalization, we need to continually bring Chinese material and standard into ASME standard system, and expand the international influence of Chinese material and boiler & pressure vessel manufacturing industry. ASME China Chief Representative Mr. Zhang Qiang praised the work carried out by CIWG of BPV II, and reported ASME’s recent trends to the working group. He proposed that the working group should promote the communication and exchange with ASME in a more active attitude.

This meeting strengthened the communication and connection among engineering companies, steel manufacturing enterprises, pressure equipment design units and manufacturing enterprises, standard developing and revision organs, safety supervision departments, and further carried forward the process of China material trademark entering ASME code.
