Vice president of CSEI, Shen Gongtian was invited to participate the 2015 National Awards for Science and Technology Conference (NASTC) on January 8 in the Great Hall of the People, which was grandly held by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council. The Large Pressure Equipment Non-stop Electromagnetic Non destructive testing Technology and Application Project (LPEENT) hosted and completed by Shen Gongtian was awarded the Second National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology of 2015

The primary participating units of LPEENT project included China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute (CSEI), Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Eddysun (Xiamen) Electronic Co., Ltd, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection and Research Institute of Jiangxi Province (BPVI,Jiangxi) and Boiler and Pressure Vessel Supervision and Inspection Institute of Hebei Province (BPVSI, Hebei). The major participates were Shen Gongtian, Wu Xinjun, Hubin, Li Luming, Lin Shuqing, Lin Junming, Shi Kun, Liu Deyu, Hu Zhi, Hou Xudong.

LPEENT project was under the support of a series of National science research projects, concentrated over 10 units of industry-university-research cooperation, more than 60 scientific and technical personnel, lasted over 10 years. Based on widely used of ferromagnetic materials on pressure vessels and non-contact, high speed, and deep penetration characters of electromagnetic detection, the project researched to reveal the response pattern of corrosion and stress damage under different electromagnetic stimulation for large pressure equipment general materials, developed independent intellectual property rights of three kinds of electromagnetic detection instruments and systems, provided four electromagnetic inspection and results evaluation approaches for different materials of corrosion and stress damage, established large pressure equipment non-stop electromagnetic Non Destructive test technology and standard systems, realized large pressure equipment non-stop inspection under the environment of paint layer, non-removing or partly removing of heat preservation, solved long term bottleneck of government and enterprises’ key technical problems.

The achievements of the project provided four inspection methods, has formed five national and one international inspection technical standards, which has been adopted by several promulgated special equipment safety technical codes and standards of AQSIQ and shared by society and achieved good social benefits. The project achievements had been successfully applied to nearly 100 units of complete sets from dozens of petrochemical power enterprises and crucial military equipments. Based on the statistics of only 14 users, the project achievements provided over 3.68 billion RMB economic benefits by reducing downtime. The project developed magnetic memory-complex plane eddy current inspection multifunctional machine, pulsed eddy current inspection system and electromagnetic guided wave detection system whose overall performance has been in the leading international level, not only broken the technical monopoly of foreign companies to reduce 30% of their price, but also provided basis for improving high-end inspection capabilities for domestic inspection organizations.
