Recently, led by CSEI’s vice president, National Committee for Standardization of Non-destructive testing chairperson, International Organization for Standardization of Non-destructive Testing—Acoustic Emission Testing Technical Committee (ISO/TC135/SCC9) chairperson Mr. Shen Gongtian, two new international standard projects named "Non-destructive testing—Acoustic emission testing—Metallic pressure equipment" and "Non-destructive testing-Acoustic emission testing—Corrosion of atmospheric pressure metal tank bottom" had been approved by ISO/TC135/SC9 members with new standard codes of ISO 24367 and ISO 24489. These two proposals initiated voting in May and July of 2019 respectively, supported by Spain, Russia, India, Italy, Swiss and over 10 countries, and experts from China, Germany, Austria, USA, Netherland, Italy and Poland participated in the standard projects.

It’s another great breakthrough for CSEI as the secretariat of ISO/TC135/SC9 after the release of China first acoustic emission testing international standard ISO 19835:2018 "Non-destructive testing-Acoustic emission testing-Steel structures of overhead travelling cranes and portal bridge cranes. It’s significant for CSEI to improve influence of acoustic emission technology and standardization level over the world, and it’s also important for CSEI and China to gain acoustic emission testing technologies worldwide recognition and lead the development direction.
